SHIP REPAIR & CONVERSION 2000

TANK GAUGING SYSTEMS & INSTRUMENTATION

PSM Instrumentation is showing a range of tank contents gauging and level monitoring instrumentation and systems at Ship Repair & Conversion 2000. Working with the marine industry for over 20 years, the company has gained formal and type approvals with all major classification societies together with worldwide recognition as a specialist in providing solutions to all tank gauging applications.

PSM has used its expertise to develop a special submersible differential pressure sensor for the Ministry of Defence. Following successful trials, an entire class of Royal Navy Frigates is to be equipped with the system for monitoring fuel and ballast tanks. Recent orders from other Navies include similar applications on submarines and other types of vessel.

Partnering this special transmitter is a PSM acquisition and display system which processes the information, based on tank tables and the grade of oil in use, to provide a volume display at repeater indicators all over the ship, each connected to a two-wire RS485 data highway.

The latest series, the Tankview 2200 range, is designed to have the flexibility and cost effectiveness to suit all types and sizes of vessel. Apart from Royal Navy Frigates, the system has recently been installed on 29m fishers, the latest P&O ferry, European Causeway, and the world’s largest trawler Atlantic Dawn.

Recently the company’s activities have included a number of large offshore projects for ballast control. Semi-submersible rigs Bingo 1 & 2 will have the highest production capacity of any so far built and are supplied with over 250 PSM level and pressure transmitters.

PSM will also display a selection of level and pressure transmitters from its wide range, including models to suit OEM applications as well as its own tailored system package.
